In spite of scoring 195/4 in their allotted 20 overs, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) ended up on the losing side against the Delhi Capitals (DC). The Rishabh Pant-led Delhi outfit chased down the target comfortably with 6 wickets to spare.

And now, former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra has opined on the Punjab side’s loss to the Delhi Capitals (DC). Nehra stated that every cricketer would like to bat, bowl and field well, and having a good day or a bad day on the field is common in sport.

Nehra also added that there are certain things that are in the control of the sportsman. Nehra also pointed out some flaws in Punjab’s strategy. Adding that KL Rahul did not give the ball to the overseas pacers of the PBKS side, the former left-arm pacer stated that Riley Meredith only came on to bowl after the first 10 overs of the innings. Nehra further stated that even Mohammed Shami bowled four different spells.

“See, there are a few things which every player wants to do in this format. You like to bowl well, bat well, field brilliantly. You have good or bad days, it’s a common thing in this game. But there are certain things which are in your control, at least that you can do. You didn’t give early overs to your most expensive overseas bowlers.

Meredith came after 10 overs and picked the wicket of Steve Smith in his first over. Even Shami bowled four overs in four different spells. You preferred Arshdeep to begin with. So, where will you control the game from – frontend or the backend?” opined Nehra in a chat with Cricbuzz.

Ashish Nehra feels that the Punjab Kings (PBKS) lack resources

Ashish Nehra also added that the KL Rahul-led side messed up with their bowling. Adding that 4 different bowlers bowled the first 4 overs for the Punjab side, Nehra concluded by stating that such things are only done by teams that do not have sufficient resources with them.

“PBKS messed up their bowling plans. They played four different bowlers to start with. Such things are mostly done by those sides who lack resources. So, I think, that’s the biggest mistake they committed,” concluded Nehra.

The Punjab Kings will play their next IPL match on 21st April 2021 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side.
