PBKS Released Players: Here is the complete list of Released Players by PBKS For IPL 2022

So, it is only 2 players that the Punjab Kings have decided to retain, and their regular skipper KL Rahul is not one of them. Mayank Agarwal is the first retention of the Punjab side, and he will be paid a sum of INR 12 Crores.

Apart from Agarwal, the next retention that the Punjab Kings chose was Arshdeep Singh. And, even though he is technically the second retention, Singh will be paid only INR 4 Crores, as he is an uncapped player.

KL Rahul, who was the face of the PBKS franchise in recent years, has been released. So, the Punjab Kings will have a new captain for IPL 2022.

Who are the players released by the PBKS side?

Several big names have not been retained by the Punjab Kings side. Apart from Rahul, the likes of Mohammed Shami, Nicholas Pooran, Chris Gayle, Adil Rashid, and Aiden Markram have all been released by the franchise.

Apart from these big names, rookie players such as Sarfaraz Khan, Deepak Hooda, Jalaj Saxena, Shah Rukh Khan, Harpreet Brar, Prabsimran Singh, Utkarsh Singh, and Ishan Porel and Ravi Bishnoi will all go back to the auction pool.

And, the Head Coach of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) franchise, Anil Kumble also gave an update on why KL Rahul was not retained. Kumble revealed that the Punjab outfit wanted to retain KL Rahul back in the side, but he decided to go into the auction. Kumble added that the Punjab Kings (PBKS) respect the decision taken by Rahul. And in all likelihood, Rahul might be pouched by the newly added Lucknow franchise.

“Obviously we wanted to retain him, that is one of the reasons we chose him as captain two years back. But he decided to go into the auction. We respect that, we honour his decision. It’s the player’s prerogative,” said Anil Kumble as quoted by Times Now.

So, after just 2 retentions, the Punjab Kings will have a sum of INR 72 Crores that they can splash around in the mega auctions.
