PBKS Retained Players: Here is the complete list of Retained Players by PBKS For IPL 2022

So, all the 8 IPL franchises have released the list of players that they would like to retain ahead of the IPL mega auctions. And, the Punjab Kings have decided to retain just 2 players.

Mayank Agarwal is the first retention made by the Punjab Kings side. The right-hander will be paid a sum of INR 12 Crores as his pay. Agarwal was in scintillating form in the 2021 edition of the IPL and plundered 441 runs at an average in excess of 40 and a strike rate of 140.45.

After Agarwal, the Punjab side has decided to retain uncapped left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh. Arshdeep performed exceedingly well in IPL 2021 and scalped 18 wickets in just 12 games at an average of 19.00. And, since Arshdeep is uncapped, he will be paid a sum of INR 4 Crores.

Even though their skipper KL Rahul performed admirably well in IPL 2021 and plundered 626 runs in the competition, the Punjab stalwart is likely to move to the new IPL franchise, Lucknow. Apart from Rahul, the Punjab Kings have also not retained several of their stalwarts like Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, and Adil Rashid.

Punjab Kings produced a mediocre performance in IPL 2021

In the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) produced a mediocre performance. The KL Rahul-led outfit could win only 6 out of the 14 matches that it played, and ended the league stages of the tournament at the 6th spot in the points table.

In fact, the ‘Men in Pink’ have not reached the knockout stages of the tournament since the year 2014, and have also finished at the last spot in the points table on 2 occasions (2015 and 2016).

Even though there were brilliant individual performances by the Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) players, they have failed to collectively deliver as a team. And, Punjab Kings have never won the IPL title even once as well. Surely, with an intent to revamp their entire squad, the Punjab Kings will be eyeing for their maiden IPL title in 2022.
