Former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni made his 350th T20 appearance on April 3 during the 11th match of the IPL 2022 against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). He became just the second Indian player to achieve this feat, after the India and Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma.
In CSK’s previous game against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Dhoni became the sixth Indian to cross the 7000-run mark in the T20 format of the game. He now has 7000+ runs in the 350 matches that he has played so far, which includes 28 half-centuries.
MS Dhoni also completed 7000 runs in the T20 format
A couple of days before the start of this season of the cash-rich event, Dhoni handed over the captaincy baton to Ravindra Jadeja. Prior to this edition of the IPL, Jadeja didn’t have much experience in the leadership department. Perhaps, this is the first time that Jadeja has been named the captain of an IPL team.
In Dhoni’s absence, Suresh Raina would step in and lead the team. But this year, Raina went unsold in the mega auction and is not taking the field. Instead, he has taken the seat behind the mic and will be playing the role of a Hindi commentator.
Talking about Dhoni, it seems like he has made a comeback in this IPL. The 40-year-old hadn’t managed to score big runs in the IPL in the past two years. But this year, he started off the campaign by scoring an unbeaten half-century in the first game, followed by a quick-fire six-ball-16 in the second game.
As the Chennai Super Kings will be chasing in their game against the Punjab Kings, it is to be mentioned that Dhoni is just three sixes away from entering the top-five list of most sixes for a franchise in the T20 format. CSK would certainly want Dhoni to continue his regained form in future games.
