PBKS vs GT: Debutant Sai Sudharsan keeps players waiting on ground amid 'toilet break'
Sai Sudharan impressed on his IPL debut with a 30 ball 35 that included 4 fours and a six.
Gujarat Titans youngster Sai Sudharsan took the field for the first time in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and he had a slightly awkward moment as he took a toilet break in between the overs which halted the game for a while. The players had to wait on the ground for the arrival of the 20-year-old when he was batting well on 21 against the Punjab Kings at the end of the eighth over, and it certainly did not excite the fans as well.
Sudharsan replaced his Tamil Nadu teammate Vijay Shankar in the line-up and straight away impressed with the bat on his IPL debut, scoring a timely knock of 35 off 30 balls for the Gujarat Titans in a run chase of 190. The left-hander has already set the stages on fire in TNPL with a phenomenal season last year, and subsequently earned a place in the Tamil Nadu side for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Sudharsan wasn’t much worried about the big occasion and he played some elegant shots in his quickfire innings that earned a lot of appreciation from the experts. However, Sudharsan’s toilet break had come at a time when there was a strategic timeout available after the very next over and it turned out to be a considerable amount of time wasted for the players.
Gujarat Titans continue their unbeaten run
Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans picked up their third victory in the season against the Punjab Kings and are the only team so far in IPL 2022 without a defeat. Titans’ chase was led by in-form opener Shubman Gill who was dismissed for a stupendous knock of 96, while Sudharsan and the skipper himself played handy knocks in the middle. However, with 12 needed off the last two deliveries, Rahul Tewatia managed to clear the ropes on successive occasions off the bowling of Odean Smith and took his team to a victory in the end.
