With the 2017 edition of the Pakistan Super League final to be played in Lahore, the England players contracted to their various franchises have been advised against boarding the flight to Lahore should their side qualify for the final. A few England players are currently playing in the league at the moment including skipper Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy, Chris Jordan, and even Tymal Mills.
David Leatherdale, the PCA’s (Professional CricketerAssociatino) chief executive has stated that the players should not make themselves available for the final should their sides make it. However, the players who would be going ahead as planned would have to sign the disclaimer as had been the case during England’s tour of Bangladesh.
“Our position is as before,” David Leatherdale, the PCA’s Chief Executive told Cricbuzz. “Players should not make themselves available for the final on advice from the PCA and FICAs security advice. Players have been asked to sign the same disclaimer they did for Bangladesh that it is their full responsibility should they take part in the final.”
Leatherdale also went on to add a few words on the manner in which the spot-fixing scandal has unraveled in recent times. However, the fact is that the ECB should have signed the players up for the anti-corruption policy as well.
“With regards to the position on the players playing in the PSL and the anti-corruption position,” said Leatherdale. “Players participating have been informed of the position around the Pakistan players suspension and have been reminded by the PCA and the ECB of the process should any approach be made and their responsibilities as part of the anti-corruption policy they have all signed up for.”
