The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan is all set to raise his voice against the big three, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), England Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket Australia (CA), and their influence on the International Cricket Council (ICC) at the ICC meetings.

The PCB is certainly disappointed with the BCCI as the latter cancelled the bilateral tour between the two nations that was scheduled to take place in the month of December last year.

ICC meetings are expected to begin from this Monday. The schedule of the meetings include topics related to the ICC Women’s Committee (Thursday), ICC Chief Executives’ Committee (Friday and Saturday), Audit, Finance & Commercial Affairs and Development Committee (Saturday), Governance and Executive Committee (Sunday) and ICC, IDI and IBC Board meetings (Monday).

The PCB has been voicing their concern over the influence of the big three on all decision making and revenue sharing. The PCB now has cleared its willingness to end the dominance of the BCCI, CA, and ECB in ICC proceedings.

“Currently the main agenda on PCB Chairman’s mind to discuss in the meeting is to end the Big Three formula and finalize a new system,” the PCB official quoted.

Earlier in 2013, the ICC had made the boards of India, England and Australia more powerful than others by giving them more shares in the revenues. This had brought in criticism from all corners. The ICC Chief Shashank Manohar then expressed his intention of making amendments for the same.

The PCB had agreed to give the power to the big three earlier in 2013 since they expected India to be playing the neighboring nation frequently as a return of favor.

“We signed the new constitution on the understanding that India would play us six times in eight years. This was the inducement to us to drop our opposition and for the ICC to have a unanimous agreement,” Khan had told Telegraph Sport.

“Now we are now facing the problem if India does not play. It not only goes against MoU they signed but also the understanding on which we signed the new constitution,” quoted the PCB Chairman.

Shaharyar Khan also added that it is not just the PCB who are miffed with the influence but also other nations.

“I know apart from Pakistan there are other countries not happy with this unequal treatment within the ICC board. It is unequal and undemocratic. But we signed it so we had to accept it,” he added.
