PCB declares High Performance Camp to upgrade bench strength
According to the board, the team will not tolerate lack of efficiency in fielding and will make the players go through robust fielding sessions.
The Pakistan Cricket Board are aiming towards achieving greater heights the team conquered the ICC Champions Trophy for the first time in history. The board announced the commendation of the High-Performance Camp where the players will be put under the scanner.
About the camp:
The camp will run for a hectic 10 weeks in Lahore’s National Cricket Academy where the players will be under the inspection of highly qualified coaches. The Pakistan coaching staff are taking fitness as a serious issue as Umar Akmal was sent back home from the United Kingdom after the wicketkeeper-batsman flunked in a two fitness test. Haris Sohail was picked to replace Akmal in the Champions Trophy.
The camp is scheduled to start on July 3rd and will stretch up to September 9th. The primary focus will be on bolstering the bench to get the players geared up for the upcoming fixtures. The players are expected to hit the academy on July 2nd and start preparing under the observation of the NCA mentors.
Hero of the Champions Trophy final Fakhar Zaman and bowler Shahdab khan will join the proceedings on 3rd week of July according to the PCB’s press release. The camp will see players put a lot of time on fielding drills and batting practice in order to curb themselves into a better athlete. Pakistan has been below standard in the fielding department in recent times which have cost them a lot of extra runs and crucial matches.
