The former legendary Pakistani pacer Aaqib Javed has hit out on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), saying the PCB has already made their mind to appoint a foreign coach. In case they are keen on roping in a former Pakistani player, they can directly talk to them, said Javed.
“The PCB has made up its mind to have a foreign coach. If they are sincere about giving a chance to a Pakistani, they can speak directly to me,” former Test pacer Aaqib Javed, seen as a front-runner for the job until recently, said.
Interestingly, according to the reports, no high profile former Pakistani player showed interest in coaching the national side. Only two former Pakistan players, including Manzoor Ellahi, had applied for the head coach position by the deadline of 25th April which the PCB had set for interested candidates to send in their documents.

Aaqib further added that he did not apply for the post since he knew that the coaching committee that includes Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja, had advised the PCB to go for a foreign coach.
Former player Mohsin Khan cited the same reason for not applying to the post. “I also feel it is thoughtless of the board to have Wasim and Ramiz on the coaching committee when they are more senior players like myself who would like to coach the national team, but no one should expect us to be interviewed by them,” quoted Mohsin Khan.
Peter Moores, Tom Moody, Jamie Siddon, Stuart Law and Dean Jones and former South African coach Mickey Arthur are quoted to be the fore-runners for the Head Coach role of the Pakistan team.
