PCB should focus on communicating better with senior players, suggests Mohammad Hafeez
After performing well in his comeback series, the all-rounder was thrilled and said that the series pumped up his confidence.
Former Pakistan T20 skipper Mohammad Hafeez made yet another comeback in international cricket in the home t20 series against Bangladesh. The veteran all-rounder before the series last played an international match in the world cup last year in England.
Senior players Hafeez and Shoaib Malik and were dropped following the poor show of Pakistan in the mega event, as PCB decided to bring in young blood in the squad of Pakistan. After Pakistan’s loss in the T20 series against Sri Lanka at home by 3-0, the new skipper Babar Azam suggested the selection committee to include Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik again in the squad, as they add experience in the squad and help youngsters as the T20 World Cup is just around the corner.
Both the senior players played vital roles as Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 2-0 in the t20 series recently. Mohammad Hafeez played a good knock of 69 and helped Pakistan retain their number one ranking in the ICC T20I rankings. Hafeez who was sidelined for more than 6 months after the world cup, made a comeback which only a few expected as the all-rounder is 39 years old and has already passed the prime of his career.
Hafeez after Pakistan’s win highlighted a key point and made a valid suggestion to the Pakistan cricket board. He stated, “ I think senior players after the years they have played for Pakistan, should be informed properly if they are in the plans of the national team management so that they can take better decisions of their future.

It would be easier for the players if a communication policy is framed, on matters of selection or non-selection of senior players” Hafeez said in Lahore. Popularly known as the ‘Professor’, Hafeez has already decided to hang his boots after completion of the T20 World in Australia.
After performing well in his comeback series, the all-rounder was thrilled and said that the series pumped up his confidence and he would continue to make the most of the opportunity and help the Pakistan side.
“It was good to make a comeback and make runs, and it just pumped up my confidence that I can still add value to the team. I would like to contribute as a batsman and bowler, and I am confident I will clear my test as I don’t see any major problems with my bowling action,” concluded Hafeez.
