The 2017 Pakistan Super League was the second edition of franchise based T20 league which was initiated in year 2016 by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The idea of T20 league is solely to help local performer play alongside overseas stars and help Pakistan Cricket to reach new heights.
This year’s champion, Peshawar Zalmi have announced to expand its Zalmi Global League in over 15 countries. They as a unit believe that it will provide overseas Pakistani cricketers to play aside some big guns and be a part of Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Opportunity for overseas Pakistani Cricketers
With the expansion, top players will be getting an opportunity to train alongside Zalmi. “PSL champions proudly announce Global Zalmi League, to be held before PSL 3 next year,” said a spokesman of Peshawar Zalmi franchise as quoted by Geo.tv.
“This event will not only give an international platform to Global Zalmi teams but following the vision of Global Zalmi, our cricket development program for overseas Pakistani talent also comes with an incentive to getting a chance to play and practice along Peshawar Zalmi Team if performance is up to the mark,” he added.
Peshawar Zalmi’s owner Javed Afridi expressed his intentions by saying that league will not only encourage overseas Pakistani cricketers to showcase their talent but will also help them to become brand ambassadors.
“This will not only provide overseas Pakistanis who are passionate about cricket to showcase their talent, but will also help them become ambassadors of Pakistan cricket in their respective countries,” said Javed.
Help Players to understand gravity of game
Javed believes that players will get a chance to play alongside International cricketers which eventually would help them to understand the gravity of game.
“Top players of Global Zlami teams will get a chance to bowl and bat with the likes of Darren Sammy, Mohammad Hafeez and many other Zalmi stars,” he concluded.
