Australian paceman Peter Siddle, who had suffered a stress fracture during Australia’s tour of New Zealand earlier this year on February, is confident of making his comeback into the squad once he is fit.
The 31-year old insisted that he is one of the better bowlers in his country when he is at his best. “I know when I’m fully fit that I’m probably going to be getting picked. When I’m at my best, I know I’m one of the better bowlers in the country and that’s all I can work at,” Siddle was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.
Siddle admitted that he was earlier careless with his injuries and that was because he did not want to miss any opportunity to play for Australia. “Nothing was showing up [on scans] and so you just keep playing. I knew it wasn’t quite right, but you never want to give up an opportunity to play for Australia,” he added.
The right-arm fast bowler had also been ruled out of the upcoming tour to Sri Lanka, which is Australia’s first tour to Sri Lanka in the last 5 years. The long series comprises of three match Test series, five ODIs, and two T20Is and the series will begin with the first Test match at Kandy on 26th July.
