Piers Morgan reveals the background story of Ben Stokes brawl

Piers Morgan has revealed the background of the story in order to help Ben Stokes who was involved in a street brawl. The England all-rounder was seen punching a couple of guys outside a bar in Bristol in the early hours of Monday. He was arrested by police for causing bodily harm after they were called to the site of the street fight. The police had him behind the bars overnight but was released later in the day without being charged.

However, the video footage of Ben Stokes thumping the person who had a bottle in hand went viral on Thursday and it was understood that England Cricket Board (ECB) also watched it but insisted on police to investigate the issue. Alex Hales was by him during the incident and tried his level best to pacify the scene after being involved himself initially. There is no statement from police so far after the footage showing that the cricketer was in the thick of the things on the street emerged on the internet.

Morgan reveals the breaking news

The British journalist who is known for his witty tweets, and is more popular for his banter with Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, has come out to support and pull Stokes out of the mess right ahead of the Ashes in November.

He tweeted that the all-rounder was just helping out a couple of gay guys who were abused by few youngsters. His tweet read, “BREAKING: I’m hearing that Ben Stokes intervened to help two gay guys who were being abused by yobs, one of whom was armed with a bottle.”

An investigation on the issue is still going on and there is no official statement from either Bristol police or the ECB. In case, the all-rounder is found guilty there is every possibility he might end up in jail which could jeopardise his participation in the Ashes. He also suffered a minor fracture to his right hand during the incident according to Andrew Strauss, the ECB chief, but expected him to be fit in time.
