Piers Morgan thanks Virender Sehwag for getting him followers this year
British journalist Piers Morgan became a household name this year among the cricket fans. Never did he even guess that he would manage to trend so much this year. He shot into the news headlines when he commented on India’s celebration after winning a couple of medals in the Rio Olympics. Former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag was left absolutely unimpressed with the tweet and soon decided to take on the British journalist.
Things turned sour but for the grace of the social media, it managed to be on the lighter note. Both Morgan and Sehwag kept trolling one another on various occasions since then. The Brit often targeted Sehwag’s grammatical mistakes and the cricketer was spot on, in citing how England have failed to win the World Cup despite being the founders of the game.
Interestingly, some tweets and news headlines later revealed that Piers Morgan was once a fan of Virender Sehwag. A couple of years ago, Morgan had often mentioned the name of Virender Sehwag in his lists of favorite cricketers. But a single tweet against India during the Rio Olympics got people trolling him.
Sehwag was a sensation on the social media this year with his sarcasm and puns. He trolled Morgan time and again. No wonder the paparazzi covered the news almost every time. The popularity of the British journalist soared high and he was a big name in the Indian cricket circuit. Sehwag’s witty digs at Morgan got him trending on the social media. It comes as no surprise that he got a lot of fans too.
Now, towards the end of 2016, Morgan took to social media and thanked Virender Sehwag for trending him on the social media. It all started when Sehwag posted on Twitter and asked his fans to share their memories with Sehwag in the year of 2016. He wrote, “Tweet the best moments you had with me this year. How did I contribute to joy in your life ? Please share tweet screenshots, moments u liked.”
Morgan tweeted, “You got me trending in India for days & 1000s of new followers. Thanks mate.”
Sehwag was quick to tweet back that India has a big heart and they keep welcoming all. He replied, “Cheers! India has a big heart . Enjoy !”
