Pitch invader Jarvo charged for breaching ground security and colliding with Jonny Bairstow
Jarvo entered the scenario for the third time and halted the game on Day 2 of the fourth Test between India and England at The Oval.
Daniel Jarvis, famously known as ‘Jarvo’ who invaded the ground several times during the England-India Test series has been charged with aggravated trespass. He had allegedly invaded the pitch at the Oval cricket ground and then collided with the England batter Jonny Bairstow. Jarvis is due to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 12.
Jarvis has a YouTube channel with more than 160,000 subscribers and is known for playing pranks. He grabbed the attention of the cricketing fraternity by invading the pitch several times during the England-India Test series. It also intrigued the on-lookers as they tweeted about it in numbers.
Jarvo collided with Bairstow during Oval Test
For as many as third time in the series, Jarvo entered the scenario and halted the game on Day 2 of the fourth Test between India and England at The Oval. He had earlier entered the ground twice at Lord’s and then at Leeds. Following this, he was banned from the Headingley Cricket Ground for life.
After having entered the pitch by wearing a helmet previously, this time around the Youtuber came in with a ball in hand. He ran past the Indian pacer Umesh Yadav and then bumped into Bairstow for which he has been charged according to Telegraph and Argus. He then released the ball from his hands which added to the surprise of the England batter.
Someone entering the ground for the third time raised questions on the ground security. The series was played amidst the challenging Covid-19 situations and that had further added to the tension. However, after this, he was held by police “on suspicion of assault.”
“A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault following an incident at the Oval Cricket Ground on Friday, September 3. He remains in custody at a south London police station,” a Metropolitan Police statement read.
The England batter Ollie Pope had also opened up on Jarvo’s invasion. “Jarvo has made a few appearances this series. I don’t know how he’s got on the pitch again, to be honest. I try to stay in my bubble and don’t let it affect me. Just block it out,” said Pope in a virtual press conference.
