English skipper Eoin Morgan and his deputy Jos Buttler recently spoke about their plans for the limited-overs series against India. As per the quotes in the Deccan Chronicle, both the Englishmen are looking forward to the challenge. Morgan had earlier skipped the tour to Bangladesh but is all set for the limited-overs leg against India.
It was Jos Buttler, who then led England to a 2-1 win in the ODI series against Bangladesh. He was then a part of the English team that faced a 0-4 drubbing in the Test series. Anyway, Buttler has had his fair share of experience in Indian conditions. Morgan, though, has freshly stepped onto the Indian soil after playing in the BBL recently.
He quoted that playing India in Indian conditions will be special. The fact that it is tough to beat India at home motivates the skipper to do well in the series. “Yes, I am really looking forward to it. Playing against India in India is special experience. (They) are a strong side and hard to beat at home. I think, that’s something we are looking forward to as a side (and) it’s going to be a challenge. It is only a short series, but we think we can learn a lot from it,” he quoted.
Team India will be under the leadership of Virat Kohli. Kohli was recently named as India’s captain in all formats of the game. The news came in as a result of sudden decision from MS Dhoni to step down from the post. Commenting on this, Morgan called Kohli as a natural successor. He added that the team is rather focused on themselves than trying to get to know about the opposition camp.

“He (Kohli) is a natural successor. One thing we do as a side, (is) that we don’t look at the opposition that much and focus firmly on ourselves and on what we need to do in this series,” quoted the English skipper.
Speaking further about the lack of preparations of some players before the series, Morgan believes it will not be a concern. Eoin Morgan conceded “Any ODI series we play, we don’t have a great deal of preparation going into it. So a lot of guys (players) do preparations in the lead up to a tour, which the guys have.”
Talking on the same lines, Jos Buttler reckons that the team has got enough time to re-adjust to he conditions. He also stressed on the fact that it is a completely different unit than the one that lost in the Test series. He said that the ODI series will be different for the Tests.
“Little bit, yes obviously. Good to play before Christmas, we got used to conditions and stuff. But the ODI matches will be completely different. We have got a different side but every time you come, you have to re-adjust and get ready for the matches accordingly,” quoted Buttler.

He also added to the words of Morgan that playing against India in India is going to be a great experience. “It’s a great challenge (playing India in India). We are very lucky to come here and play as probably (it is one) of the best places to play in front of the crowds, it is a great challenge (and) everyone in our side is looking forward to that,” Buttler added.
