Shakib-al-Hasan made light work of the Indian pacers on the second day’s play until of course he went ahead and lost his wicket courtesy of a terrible shot, but the fact was that his performance on the day was something quite amazing to say the least. Shakib’s innings, despite not being the century that many would have expected, ensured that there was at least something that impressed one and all on the day.

However, initially in the presser, Shakib went on to quash a few comments made about the manner in which Virat Kohli went about formulating his innings of 204. Of course, it was indeed a masterclass in perhaps every respect, but the fact was he was certainly no big fan of the manner in which Kohli builds his innings. However, despite this, the Bangladeshi all-rounder was certainly available for his comment on the manner in which he batted on the day.

He began by stating that he was one of those players who played his shots and did not think much on the natural game and did not think about the wicket or perhaps event he reputation of the bowler, in this case being Ravichandran Ashwin. ”I like to play shots. Sometimes I am successful, sometimes I am not. I don’t really think about it as this is my natural game,” said Shakib.

He went on to state that this was indeed a good wicket to bat on. “To me, it was a good wicket. It wasn’t helping spinners that much. I know I can be positive, I can move my feet. I was trying to be as positive as I can and look to score runs rather than just blocking balls.”
