9. Deepak Chahar
In the last couple of years, Deepak Chahar has established himself as the centrepiece of Chennai Super Kings’ bowling line-up. His swing with the new ball has often troubled the batsmen which enabled him to grasp a few quick wickets for his side. He is playing the role which was successfully played by Mohit Sharma from 2013 to 2015.
His exploits in the IPL earned him a national call-up and he impressed immediately. He presently holds the record of the best ever bowling figures in T20I history which he achieved against Bangladesh last year by scalping six wickets while conceding just seven runs. He is also the only Indian cricketer with a T20I hat-trick.
In IPL, he has played 34 matches and has scalped 33 wickets at an average of 26.52. He can also double up as a useful batsman down the order and can score a few quick runs. In this playing XI, he will spearhead the pace attack.
