In an event organized to felicitate the Pakistani players after their win famous win in the Champions Trophy, held in Islamabad, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif feels that there is no need to plead any country to play in cricket in Pakistan. He directed the President of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shahryar Khan not to solicit any board for them play matches in their country.

It is a well-renowned fact that Pakistan has not had any cricket in their country since the incident which shocked the entire cricketing fraternity back in 2009 where a large number of Sri Lankan players were attacked by few extremists en route to the stadium. The Sri Lankan players had to be airlifted out of the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, and that was the last international action the country saw when it comes to cricket.

Pakistan did persuade few international players from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) such as Darren Sammy to play in the finals which was held in Pakistan. The country has been hosting its matches in stadiums such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah since the incident and still managed to reach on top of the ICC Test Ranking, essentially playing all their cricket away.

Those who want to play in Pakistan will visit themselves

The men in green, captained by a spirited Sarfraz Ahmed, went on to clinch the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy held in England against all odd, beating heavy duty cricketing sides such as South Africa, India, and the home team.”There is no need to plead with any country to visit Pakistan, those who want to play in Pakistan will visit themselves” said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif according to Geo TV.

After the conclusion of the premier’s speech, he distributed prize money among the players and participated in a photography session with PCB’s management and players. Shoaib Malik thanked the PM for inviting the team. Speaking at the event, batsman Azhar Ali said as a team “we enjoyed the tournament.” He added that the captain boosted the team’s morale after the initial defeat.
