Avon and Somerset Police have renewed their appeal for more information relating to the controversial incident featuring England all-rounder Ben Stokes. The cricketer was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm following a brawl outside a nightclub in Bristol on September 25. Stokes not only suffered a fractured hand but his availability for the all important Ashes series, starting November 23, received a major jolt.

The England match-winner was earlier named in the Three Lions squad but the ECB had later confirmed that Stokes won’t be traveling with Joe Root’s men to Australia, as his investigation is going on. England’s title defense will receive a major blow if Stokes’ name gets ruled out of the fixtures.

Police releases statement

A statement was released on Monday: “We’re renewing our appeal to trace two men we believe could be key witnesses to a disorder in Bristol in the early hours of Monday, September 25. “A 27-year-old man suffered minor facial injuries in the incident.

“The men we hope to talk to left Mbargo nightclub on Triangle West at 2.19am and walked in the direction of Queens Road with two other men. One of the men we want to trace is described as white, of slim build, 5ft 9ins tall and aged in his early 20s. He had short dark brown hair, was clean shaven and wore a white t-shirt with a sleeveless jumper, jeans and trainers.”

“The second man is also white, 5ft 9ins tall and aged in his early 20s but is of a slightly larger build. He had short light brown hair, was also clean shaven and wore a long-sleeved round neck t-shirt, dark/black skinny jeans and trainers. A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and was later released under investigation. Three other men, aged 26, 27 and 28 have all voluntarily attended police stations for an interview.”
