Team India won the toss against West Indies in the third and final ODI match being played at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain and decided to bat first. The Men in Blue have made one change with pacer Prasidh Krishna replacing Avesh Khan. After India’s squad was announced, several netizens were left frustrated as the left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh was not included in the team’s playing XI.
Arshdeep did not feature in the previous two ODI encounters as well and considering that India had already clinched the series, the left-arm pacer could have been added to the line-up. The left-arm pacer recently made his debut for India during a T20I encounter. He scalped two wickets in that match and bowled at an economy of 5.14.
Arshdeep Singh has also been named in the T20I squad against West Indies
Notably, the young pacer has also been included in the Indian squad to face the Men in Maroon in the upcoming T20I series. The Men in Blue will face West Indies in a five-match T20I series, starting on July 29 (Friday). Arshdeep will desperately want to get a chance during the T20I matches and stake his claim to get into the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. Meanwhile, Team India will also welcome their permanent skipper Rohit Sharma along with the wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant.
Talking about India’s ODI series against West Indies, the first two contests were very close and could have gone either way. The home team’s batting order has shown some immense improvement as compared to their previous series with Bangladesh where they struggled to bat the entire 50 overs.
The likes of Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran, Kyle Mayers, and Shamarh Brooks have shown responsibility with the bat and played some crucial knocks for their team. They will also be looking to win the final ODI match and march positively forward for the upcoming T20I encounters.
Meanwhile, here are some Twitter reactions over Arshdeep Singh’s exclusion:
Unless Arshdeep Singh is still having that abdominal strain, leaving him out even in a dead rubber is so bizarre.#IndvsWI #ArshdeepSingh #Cricket #CricketTwitter

What's the point in selecting #arshdeepsingh if he will only warm the bench.

Baised Selection BCCI full of Politics #arshdeepsingh is way way better then Avesh Khan

Politics have taken over! Very poor call from #Dravid and team management. He deserves harsh criticism for this team selection. He keeps on ignoring fringe players like #arshdeepsingh , even when this #ODI has no significance. #RaviShastri gave opportunities to all. https://t.co/V95IYGbVOA

@SDhawan25 @BCCI Ridiculous captaincy by Dhawan. Pathetic team selection. Why are you not playing Arshdeep Singh in your playing XI ?

No Arshdeep Singh. Only one T20 game but dropped next game. Now other players getting chances ahead of him. High level of politics going on. @BCCI @JayShah @SGanguly99 #TeamIndia #IndvsWI #INDvWI

Apart from his skillset and numbers, I had really thought that Arshdeep Singh's left-arm aspect would get him more than just one game in four different series when he was picked first for the T20I vs South Africa..
Surprised to say the least.#IndvsWI— Jatin Khandelwal (@jr_khandelwal) July 24, 2022
