Mumbai teenager Pranav Dhanawade, who created history in 2015 by becoming the first cricketer to score more than 1000 runs in an officially recognised match, will be now travelling to England to test skills. The 15-year-old, known as the wonder-boy, is set to play nine matches in at Leicester, representing Worli Cricket Club, Hindustan Times reports.
Pranav grabbed the limelight after he struck a marathon innings of 1009 off just came 323 deliveries while playing for his school side, the KC Gandhi Higher Secondary School against Arya Gurukul in the quarterfinal of the HT Bhandari Cup inter-school tournament organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association during June 2015. The stunning show of batting saw him break an 116-year-old record of 628 not out set by the English schoolboy AEJ Collins way back in the year 1899.
However, since creating this highly unbelievable record, the young man has failed to live up the reputation. Pranav, who is touted as the next big thing in Mumbai cricket, scored 74 and 156 in the semifinal (after scoring 1009* in the previous match) and 40 and 20 runs in the final of the Cup.
Consequently, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) then ignored him for an off-season training camp for U-19 probables. The right-hander failed to put up a significant show in the Thane Premier League and Thosar Trophy as well. However, Pranav Dhanawade will now be hoping that he does something significant during the 16-day trip with Worli Cricket Club.
