Prasidh Krishna had a dream start to his international career when he picked up four wickets against England in the first ODI in Pune. KL Rahul, who has played with the young pacer for Karnataka, praised him for his performance. The wicketkeeper-batsman and senior player revealed things about Krishna, which sets him apart from others.

The first spell which Krishna bowled in the game on Tuesday wasn’t too impressive. He gave away 37 runs from three overs upfront. He was removed from the attack but got a wicket instantly when he came back for another spell a little later in the innings. The 25-year-old pacer managed to pick up the wickets of Jason Roy and Ben Stokes, which got India back in the game.

He enjoys being in the contest, says KL Rahul

Rahul expressed that he wasn’t surprised with the comeback which the young pacer staged, having seen him before. “Quite honestly I am not surprised by how he performed. I was confident that the next player who is going to come up, will be him. Having watched him in the nets, he is someone who catches your eye. He is a brave boy.

“He has a great sense of the game. The way he reads the game is his skill. He is a keen learner,” Rahul said in the press conference ahead of the second ODI. KL Rahul also revealed that Prasidh Krishna was also able to give a few words back to the English batters.

“He comes out very aggressive. In the last game also, he was not shying away from giving it back to the batsman. He enjoys being in the contest, which is something I like about him. He wasn’t overwhelmed by the stage. The way he came back after the first three overs, got us two crucial wickets. These are the qualities that we need as a team. If he works harder, then he can be a great asset for Indian cricket,” KL Rahul said.

After going for 41 runs in his first 19 deliveries, Prasidh Krishna turned his fortunes around along with that of the Indian team. He picked up four wickets for just 13 runs, ending with figures of 4 for 54 in 8.1 overs. As a matter of fact, no Indian bowler on ODI debut has picked up more wickets than Krishna.
