“Yatra Pratibha Avsara Prapnotihi” are the words inscribed on the Indian Premier League title. It means “Where talent means opportunity”. The Indian Premier League is a platform for young players to showcase their talents and take a positive stride towards a successful career. Players get the opportunity to face off against some of the greatest players of the world. This provides them with the much-needed experience to excel in pressure situations.

IPL 2018 has seen many young players perform exceedingly well for their respective franchises. The likes of Nitish Rana, Mayank Markande, Krishanppa Gowtham and Prasidh Krishna have been few of the standout performers in the current season. However, according to former Zimbabwean bowler and KKR bowling coach Heath Streak, Prasidh Krishna is one young player, in particular, who stands out from the crowd.

Match changing spells

The young fast bowler has bowled some crucial overs that have turned the match into KKR’s favour. The 18th over that he bowled against the Rajasthan Royals was the best among the lot. “That 18th over was world class on Wednesday and it reminds me of guys like Jasprit Bumrah who came on the scene, doing exactly what he is doing. He is one of those names IPL has unearthed and he is making a name for himself,” Streak told reporters.

The inclusion of the 22-year old has further strengthened the KKR side who have been doing very well of late. Prasidh has been using his options and variations very well and the batsmen have found it difficult to get away with him. Interestingly, Prasidh was a replacement for U-19 World Cup winning pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti. He has played six games for KKR and taken 10 wickets with best figures of 4/30.

The fast bowler needs to carry on his form as KKR are just two wins away from lifting their third IPL title. Skipper Dinesh Karthik has led from the front and has been very impressive so far. They will be facing the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 on Friday at the Eden Gardens.
