Mumbai Indians pulled out a top-drawer performance to win a thriller of a match against their Maharashtrian counterpart Rising Pune Supergiant in the final match of the tenth edition of Indian Premier League. But the scenario was not a perfect one for Mumbai. Coming out to bat first, they were sloppy with their efforts and managed to score mere 129 runs.
Many considered the match to be all but over. But the bowling unit of Mumbai produced a magnificent performance to seal a miraculous win. Pune needed 7 runs from 5 balls to win their maiden IPL title. Thousands of Mumbai Indians fans who came to watch the game at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad and were praying to their respective gods and goddesses.
An old lady was seen in the stands, praying really desperately. But unlike the rest, she had closed her eyes and decided not to watch the thrilling encounter. 7 runs from 5 balls looked deal done for Pune. But the tables turned on them and Twitterati hailed the old lady for her prayers. Out of nowhere, she became the internet sensation of the day. Now people wanted to know who she was and the mystery was solved by the Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan.
Identity of ‘lucky charm’ aunty
Watching Twitterati go berserk, Abhishek decided to reveal her real identity. She is the mother of Nita Ambani, the owner of Mumbai Indians team. Abhishek also revealed that she is the lucky charm for Mumbai Indians. In his tweet, Jr Bachchan wrote- “That is Mrs. Ambani’s mother. Popularly referred to as “nani”. The lucky charm.”
So here is the answer. Her name is Purnima Dalal and she is the mother-in-law of famous industrialist and owner of the Mumbai Indians franchise, Mukesh Ambani. She was seen in the stands quite a few times, praying for her team’s victory.
