India and Australia series on tenterhooks
The tightly fought Test series between India and Australia in on tenterhooks, with both the teams having won a game apiece, and with the third Test ending in a draw. And now, the grand finale is set for The Gabba on January 15th, 2021. For India, it was a collective team effort with the willow in the second innings that allowed them to play out 131 overs at Sydney. While Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant were involved in a partnership of 148 runs that kept the Aussies at bay, Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari were defiant at the crease and frustrated the Australians.
As far as Virat Kohli is concerned, the Indian skipper returned home after the first Test in Adelaide. Kohli scored a sedate 74 in the first innings, before a tragic mix up with Ajinkya Rahane resulted in an untimely run-out and cut his innings short. In the second innings, he was dismissed for 4, as India were bowled for a paltry score of 36. In his absence, Ajinkya Rahane has taken up the leadership duties of the side.
Kohli is slated to return to cricketing action in the month of February, with a full-fledged series against England lined up for the Indian side. But right now, the Indian captain will be enjoying some precious family time with his wife and his cute little daughter.
