The Kings XI Punjab had a very dismal run in the 2018 edition of the IPL. Despite the poor show, their co-owner, Preity Zinta, has her head high and is content with the way things panned out for her side in the season. She hopes for a better show in the seasons to come next. While she is optimistic about her team’s future, there is one regret that she is carrying in her heart.
As per the recent reports in Circle of Cricket, Preity Zinta exclaimed that she has always wanted to have one player in her side but could never get him. In fact, she knows that she might never get his services. That player in MS Dhoni. Preity remarked that she was not a big fan of MS Dhoni when the IPL started in 2008.
Hence, she did not go outbidding heavy price for Dhoni. But having seen the legend of MS Dhoni grow so immensely in the tournament, she regrets not buying him. She also remarked that Dhoni is a champion player and that can be seen from the way he bounced back this year after a terrible outing for the Rising Pune Supergiant.
“There is just one player who I have always wanted on my team but that won’t ever happen… and that is MS Dhoni. When the IPL started I wasn’t a Dhoni fan but from what I’ve seen of him in the last 10 years I’ve started to admire him,” Preity Zinta quoted.
“Last year everybody started saying Dhoni should stop playing but look at him this year. He is unbelievable and I think it’s unfair at every step to challenge a player once he reaches a certain stature. He doesn’t need to tell people who he is, he is Dhoni,” the KXIP co-owner remarked.
A terrific leader
Praising Dhoni a little more, Preity Zinta hailed the former India captain as a terrific leader. She cited that Dhoni has done so much for the country and has led India to great glories. She conceded that it is indeed amazing to see when Dhoni wins games for his side.
“I really admire him because he was a really terrific captain for India. The country won so much under him. Even when you see him on the ground he remains absolutely calm and collected. He remains gracious in defeat as well. When he wins he’s obviously amazing,” Preity conceded.
