Mitchell Starc suffered an injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India. He went back home to recover from the same to be fit in time for the Champions Trophy. However, Starc is fit and so are all the fast bowlers from Australia. The big-four bowlers for the Aussies – Starc, James Pattinson, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins have all been sidelined due to injuries but are fit and ready to go.

The four bowlers have hardly played together as they have been taking up each other’s place because of injuries. But the time has come, Australia and Steve Smith won’t mind picking all four for the first game. Starc is also looking forward to playing with his fast bowling companions.

Starc excited about the fit quartet

The left-arm pacer is all geared up and ready to go. He is also excited that all of his mates are fit and at their best. The Australian speedster is also looking forward to playing with them and talked about how they have come up the ranks. He also talked about how all of them have performed for Australia before and even if three of them play the other is there and ready.

Starc said, “We’re looking forward to hopefully playing a few games together if the four of us get picked,” he said. But it’s great to have the four of us fit. Even if there’s only three of us playing, we’ve got one on the side ready to go. We’ve all performed for Australia before and we’re looking forward in this tournament to performing again.”

“We’ve obviously come through the ranks together, we’ve played a lot together and against each other in the under-age stuff and heading into to domestic cricket. But we haven’t all been in the park at the same time for Australia. So I think it’s exciting for the four of us,” he was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.

On being rusty

Starc was out of the field for 83 days with a foot injury but is back and fit again. He was out with a similar injury before and was a bit rusty on his return. When asked about the same he said that the span of the previous injury was far more than the current one.

“The last layoff was seven months, but this one was only about six weeks. So even coming back into the nets, it didn’t feel like it took too long to get some good rhythm back. So hopefully it’s not like last time with such a big layoff,” he explained.

In fact, he is feeling confident and has had some wonderful net sessions. Starc did agree on the lack of competitive cricket but said that he has had enough net sessions and the warm up game will do a world of good as well.

“I’m pretty confident with how it’s going, it’s feeling good in the nets and with the few center wickets we’ve had. It’s been a while (since my last match). I’ve had plenty of time in the nets and up in Brisbane, but it’ll be nice to get out in the middle and bowl some overs in match-like conditions,” he concluded.
