The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has urged youngsters, especially students to take a cue from Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar. Modi was addressing the nation in his first monthly-address Mann Ki Baat’ program wherein he spoke on the lines of emulating Sachin Tendulkar, who not only is a legendary cricketer, but also a world icon as well.
Before Tendulkar hung up his boots in 2013, he had played in excess of two decades with the numbers racked up against his name. Of course, he came in light of being a selfish player when it came to his records, but the fact of the matter was that he is a legend no less.
“Take the example of Sachin Tendulkar. In his career which extended for more than 20 years, he kept breaking his own records day after day and got better and better with each passing day. The secret of his success was self-competition and not competition with others,” the Prime Minister said.
Modi, whilst addressing the considerable amount of students in the audience as well went ahead and added that studying for overall knowledge was something extremely important in the grand scheme of things rather than limiting his studying for oneself. Modi would also go on to add that the root of all the problems were indeed the expectations of one and all.
“Only studying for marks will lead to shortcuts and one will limit himself or herself. It is important to study for knowledge,” he said.
“The root of all the problems are expectations, it is an acceptance that makes things easy. You should compete with yourself to see how tomorrow can be made better than yesterday,” he added.
