Rahul Dravid has been quite instrumental for the youngsters in the U19 and India A sides. He has constantly been a lighting torch for the upcoming generation. Prithvi Shaw has had a mighty experience playing under the guise of Dravid. Their combination worked wonders for India who won the u19 World Cup quite recently.

Now, a technical flaw in Shaw’s batting was sorted by none other than the Wall. Prithvi Shaw shed light on how Dravid has been really influential in his improvement as a cricketer. He further spoke about sharing the dressing room with the likes of Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane during India A tour.

Rahul Sir asked me to stick with what I’m comfortable with

Shaw has been struggling to put his back leg in line with the ball. He toiled hard to improvise on the same but failed to do so. That’s when Rahul Dravid advised him not to change his batting style and to stick with what he was comfortable with. He also remarked how the coach has asked him to focus in order to score big runs.

“In the practice sessions, I tried to get my back-foot back and across, but it didn’t work for me. So Rahul sir said that it was not necessary for me to make the change. I know that it’s a mistake to not get my back-leg in line with the ball, but since I’m scoring good runs, Rahul sir asked me to stick to what I’m comfortable with. He talks to me about the mentality you need to score big, and to score consistently. I try to follow his advice.” he told Sportstar.

Learnt a lot playing alongside Vijay and Rahane

The India A team also toured England last month. The team included Indian stalwarts like Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane in order to get acclimatized to the English conditions ahead of the Test series. Thus, Prithvi Shaw got the opportunity to rub shoulders with the experienced duo. He described how they provided him with their training and mindset ahead of a game.

“Having Vijay and Rahane was great. I watched how they batted in the nets, how they plan their knocks, and how they focus on the ball. I talked to them about various aspects of cricket and learnt a lot from them,” Shaw further added.
