Delhi Capitals (DC) batsman Prithvi Shaw has so far played one big inning in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. The youngster missed his first century in the IPL as he fell for 99 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground last month. However, even if he hasn’t had another half-century apart from that innings, Shaw recently came up with an over-confident attitude on Twitter only to get roasted by the social media users.
Shaw posted a picture on his social media account sporting glasses and posing with a confident gesture. However, it was his caption accompanying the picture: “If u kick me when I am down. You better pray I don’t get up” that turned the Twitterati off. It thought the 19-year-old was a little over the top and advised him to keep his feet on the ground and not get carried away.

Shaw is often compared to the great Tendulkar
Shaw, who has been a sensation of Indian cricket and is often compared with the young Sachin Tendulkar, made an impressive start to his international career by slamming a hundred on Test debut against the Windies at home last year. He was expected to have a grand tour of Australia later in 2018, as Tendulkar had in 1991-92, but an ankle injury ahead of the first match saw him getting ruled out of the entire series. The 19-year-old underwent treatment for some time before playing the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament and now the IPL.
However, though Shaw is seen to have a big potential, concern has also been raised over his approach and was sent to have a one-on-one talk to Tendulkar who had started as a teenager and went on to play cricket at the highest level for 24 years.
Shaw had a terrific last year as he led India to win the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand earlier in the year and then made his national debut. However, fans thought he needed to keep himself grounded to enjoy his success for the long term.
Here are some of the reactions that the Twitterati came up with to Shaw’s picture
