Prithvi Shaw’s form with the bat in recent times has been really disappointing. The opening batsman had a below-par campaign in the IPL where he managed to score only 228 runs in 13 games and was also dropped by Delhi Capitals midway through the competition. And his form in Australia has not been great either.

Shaw opened the innings in both the tour games against Australia A but failed to make his mark. While other openers – Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill – scored impressive fifties in the second tour game, Shaw failed in all the four innings. In four innings, he managed to score just 62 runs with 40 of them coming in one innings.

Unsurprisingly, there are questions marks on his spot in the playing eleven for the first Test against Australia. Several quarters have backed Shubman Gill to open the innings alongside Mayank Agarwal in Rohit Sharma‘s absence. Well, only time will tell which youngster gets the nod to open the innings in the series-opener.

Prithvi Shaw’s impressive leg-break

While Prithvi Shaw could not make an impression with the bat in the tour games, he managed to it with the ball. While he could not pick any wicket in the three overs he bowled, one of his deliveries definitely left everyone impressed. In the last over of the day, Shaw bowled a ripper which caught everyone by surprise, including wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha.

The part-time bowler managed to produce the dream delivery for a leg-spinner as the ball pitched on the middle and leg stump line before turning away from the batsman Jack Wildermuth. The ball evaded Saha as well as skipper Ajinkya Rahane at the first slip. Saha was even seen clapping while Rahane was busy chasing the ball.

Later, Shaw took to Instagram to post a video of the delivery on the social media platform and wrote: “It’s good to surprise sometimes the safest pair of hands in the business @wriddhi bhai @ajinkyarahane dadaa. It will come your way again.”
