Number 6. MS Dhoni

Dhoni’s place in the One Day side, as well as his capabilities finishing the innings, has been questioned off-late. But given his swiftness behind the wickets and between them, coupled with his contribution to Indian cricket has certainly has given him the right to hang up his boots on his own terms.

India needs to provide Rishabh Pant, the consensual successor for Dhoni, with enough time so that he is ready for the International stage. As of now, India would want to continue with MS in the upcoming assignments. However, there still lies a question mark regarding his place in the World Cup of 2019.

Number 7. Kedar Jadhav

Jadhav, who is renowned for being street smart and innovative at the death, is the ideal player for India during the crunch situations in the match. His performances over the last year have made it very difficult for the management to overlook him despite his short stature. Also, he has a knack of breaking partnerships with the ball at the crucial junctures of the game, to provide back up for Kohli.

Number 8. Hardik Pandya

Given the fact that the selectors have now opted for the services of Kuldeep and Yuzvendra Chahal in coloured clothing, the depth in the batting in limited overs format has to be compromised with. This would make Pandya bat lower than the order. The option of him being sent up the order will always be tempting during the last 15 overs of the match. Also, his pace and bounce would always prove handy for Kohli.

Yuvraj Singh/ Suresh Raina

The place of Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina in the Indian squad has always been the center of a debate between the fanatics. Suresh Raina has been preferred in T20 cricket and it would be interesting to see if the southpaw finds his place in the side. But one has a feeling that twilight of the careers of two of the most elegant batsmen India has ever produced has begun to onset. Only time will tell if they find a place in the squad.
