The Peshawar Zalmi rode on Eoin Morgan’s incredible 80 as they went ahead and secured an impressive and dominating win over the Karachi Kings in the third match of the 2017 edition of the Pakistan Super League. This comes as an impressive win in the grand scheme of things given the fact that the Zalmi had lost their first match of the tournament when they had lost out in the first match of the tournament against the defending champions Islamabad United.

The innings for the Karachi Kings began to a terrible note when Mohammad Hafeez struck in the first over itself. Along with Hasan Ali and Chris Jordan, they wrecked havoc and even Chris Gayle could do little about the same. At 4/12, they were in dire straits before the skipper Shoaib Malik came to the fore with some decent batting.

He was supported at the other end by both Ravi Bopara as well as Kieron Pollard who went ahead and ensured that a competitive score at the very least was something that was on the board in the grand scheme of things. However, 119 was simply not enough as the Zalmi certainly had an impressive and deep batting unit, something that stood out despite losing skipper Mohammad Hafeez in the first over.

Kamran Akmal, the star of the previous match also went on to lose his wicket soon before it was David Malan and Eoin Morgan who came together to ensure that they were going to get their innings back on track. Morgan in particular was on a road to redemption as he went ahead and slammed a quickfire 80, something that kept the Peshawar Zalmi in the hunt for the most part of the match as well.

In the end, it was perhaps the ease of victory that was achieved in the grand scheme of things that now sees Peshawar with an ability to secure the top spot as well.

Brief Scores:

Karachi Kings: 118/7 in 20 overs (S Malik 44; M Hafeez 2/7)

Peshawar Zalmi: 119/3 in 18.3 overs (E Morgan 80*; I Wasim 1/13)
