PSL 2018: Darren Sammy urges Karachi fans to support Zalmi in the final
Sammy is the most famous personality in Pakistan.
Peshawar Zalmi skipper Darren Sammy has urged the cricket fans of Karachi to support his team in the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The title clash will be played on Sunday in Karachi at the National Stadium between Zalmi and Islamabad United. It will also be the first match in Karachi after a long time as all the other matches last year were staged by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in Lahore at the Gadaffi Stadium. However, Sammy is a famous personality in the country as he was the one who helped them revive international cricket.
Sammy has led Windies to World T20 title twice in his career so far and has won the coveted PSL tournament last year. This time around, they are only one match away from defending their trophy and also win it for the second time. Sammy’s fan connect stands out as he is loved all over Pakistan and there is a possibility that the jam-packed crowd might root for Peshawar Zalmi in the title clash.
Sammy’s message for his fans
Darren Sammy, in a video shared by one of his fans on Twitter, has urged to the people of Karachi to come out in numbers and support his team. “Yes Karachi we are coming. I want you all to come and support Peshawar Zalmi. I want everybody to wear Yellow Shirt. It’s a yellow storm,” he said in the video.
Peshawar defeated Quetta Gladiators off the last ball in the first eliminator and then romped past Karachi Kings in the virtual semi-final to join United led by Misbah-ul-Haq in the finals. It will be a historic moment for Pakistan cricket as they are reviving the game in the country once again with international players willing to visit. Even after the PSL, they will host Windies for three T20Is in Karachi in the first week of April.
