After two successful editions of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the mega event returned with its third season that kicked off last week. In what promises to be the epitome of grandeur the upcoming season will see Pakistan host the knockout stages of the tournament as well.
The PSL has been extremely clinical in providing a platform for young and brewing cricketers all across the globe to come and showcase their talent. In the process, the league has transformed the cricketing landscape of the nation, spring-boarding a number of potential cricketers.
Speaking on the same lines, Karachi Kings skipper Imad Wasim pointed out that the country’s success last year at the Champions Trophy can be credited to the PSL as well. Pakistan lifted the trophy due to the players selected on the basis of their performance in the previous edition of the league.
Imad Wasim has been impressed by another brewing new talent, 19-year-old Ibtisam Sheikh who hogged the limelight with his stellar bowling and inch-perfect googlies in the PSL. The Zalmi cricketer recently wrecked havoc, picking up three wickets in exchange for just 20 runs against inaugural champions Islamabad United in the weekend clash.
According to brecorder, Wasim said, “He is young but you can see his confidence. After playing PSL the youngsters don’t feel any pressure while playing international matches.”
He added, “Young players learn from the foreign and senior players playing in their respective teams. We learn their behaviours, routine, training, work ethics. In Karachi Kings, we look up to Shahid Afridi.”
Kings’ campaign in PSL 2018 so far
Karachi Kings started off their PSL3 campaign in a fine fashion winning their season opener against two-time finalists, Quetta Gladiators. The Imad Wasim-led team next faced defending champions Peshawar Zalmi and also ended up on the winning side, sealing the fixture by 5 wickets.
The blue outfit next took on Lahore Qalandars in a high-octane clash. But the Kings, in the end, outclassed their opponents to register a comprehensive 27 runs victory.
Karachi Kings, till now have looked the best team in the league. The franchise has won all three of their match played so far and currently sit on the top of the table with 6 points. Though there is still a long way to, performances of this stature will surely stronghold Karachi’s maiden claim on the coveted PSL title.
