After leading the Proteas against India in the T20I series, JP Duminy is all geared up for his next assignment in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The South African will be travelling to Dubai as he joins his Islamabad United teammates in the much-anticipated third edition of the tournament.

Duminy was bestowed with the captaincy reigns after regular skipper Faf du Plessis had to sit out with an injury. The 33-year-old was forced to the sidelines after he incurred an injury in the first ODI between India and South Africa. Du Plessis suffered an injury to his fingers following which he was ruled out for the remainder of the series.

Duminy, on the other hand, marshalled his troops well to pull the series back on level terms after losing the opening T20I clash. However, he couldn’t take the hosts over the rope, succumbing to a defeat in the series decider.

A classy left-hander, JP Duminy has become a household name in T20 leagues all across the globe. In particular, he has been one of the leading T20 batsmen in the world over the past decade. Upbeat with his new challenge, Duminy took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “Let the new venture begin. Next stop Dubai looking forward to meeting up with my team @IsbUnited for this #PSL2018 league. Exciting few weeks ahead. #UnitedWeWin.”

Islamabad United’s campaign in PSL 2018 so far

Islamabad United, who were the champions of the inaugural edition, however, had a disappointing start. Taking on defending champions Peshawar Zalmi in their season opener, Islamabad slumped to a 34 run defeat. However, they turned around their fortunes in the next fixture with a comprehensive performance against the Multan Sultans.

They next face a tough challenge as they lock horns with finalists of both the editions, Quetta Gladiators. And with the arrival of JP Duminy, the franchise can aim to stronghold their claim on winning the coveted title for the first time.
