PSL 2018: Karachi Kings appoint new captain for Eliminator 2
Karachi Kings will be taking on the Peshawar Zalmi in the marquee clash.
The stage is all set for the Eliminator 2 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018. Karachi Kings will be taking on the Peshawar Zalmi in the marquee clash. Lahore is set to be the venue and it is expected to be a sell out crowd. In all fairness, it will be a big game, considering the claims that are stake. The equation is quite simple – the winner takes it all.
The winner of the game will lock horns with Islamabad United in the finals of the season in Karachi. Meanwhile, the loser will crash out of the tournament. With such backdrop, both teams would be coming up with their best possible permutations and combinations. While the Peshawar Zalmi look set and fit for the ultimate showdown, the Karachi Kings have injury concerns troubling them.
Captaincy woes
The regular skipper of the Kings, Imad Wasim, has been ruled out of the game owing to an injury. Also, veteran cricketer Shahid Afridi is ruled out due to an injury. Furthermore, the Kings had announced Eoin Morgan to lead the side in the absence of Imad Wasim.
But now, Morgan has backed out of the clash and has decided not to travel to Pakistan for the playoffs matches. In this case, the Karachi Kings have appointed a new captain for the Eliminator 2 clash. Veteran Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir has been named as the new captain of the team.
Meanwhile, as per the reports in ARY Sports, Karachi Kings have got permission from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to include Twenty20 specialist Mukhtar Ahmed for Wednesday’s game as well as spinner Zulfiqar Babar and Karachi youngster Danish Aziz.
Earlier, the Kings had lost to the Islamabad United in the Qualifier 1 of the tournament. It was a convincing win for the United that took them to the finals. Meanwhile, the Zalmis had a very narrow one run win against the Quetta Gladiators in the Eliminator 1.
