PSL 2018: Shahid Afridi displays a very sporting gesture after dismissing Misbah ul Haq

The cricketers all across the globe are considered to be role models for both the younger as well as the older generations. The sportsmen are ought to set appropriate and inspiring examples on the field which should be respected and appreciated by all their followers in the different parts of the world. One such encouraging behaviour was displayed by the former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi, during the last game of the league phase of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United.

Afridi ceases to celebrate Misbah’s wicket

During the game against Islamabad United and the Karachi Kings, all-rounder Shahid Afridi became only the fourth bowler in the world and the first one from Pakistan to scalp a record 300 wickets in Twenty20 cricket in just 273 outings. Afridi claimed two wickets in the game to achieve this historical tally and his 299th T20 victim was the Islamabad skipper Misbah ul Haq. However, after picking up Misbah’s wicket, Afridi was indulged in an unusual behaviour in which he avoided to carry on with his regular celebrations to offer a very respectable gesture to the former veteran Pakistani cricketer.

Both Afridi and Misbah have played for their Pakistan team for a long period and have also shared the same dressing room and the understandings about the game during their national cricketing career. The two experienced campaigners of Pakistan cricket have also played in the national team under each of their’s captaincy reigns, which thus states the similarities in opinions and most importantly have an enormous amount of respect for each other. While Afridi followed the same dignity after ignoring the celebration following Misbah’s wicket.

Shaheen Afridi also did the same thing for Afridi

Last week, young Pakistani pace sensation Shaheen Shah Afridi also followed the same footsteps which his role model Afridi has done. Shaheen also avoided to celebrate after picking up Shahid Afridi’s wicket during a PSL game to adjudge his respect for the Pakistani veteran. He followed his behaviour with an impressive tweet for the Pakistani legend in which he wrote, “There is only one Shahid Afridi in the cricket arena. And this is the least you can do to honor the Man for his services to cricket, Pakistan, and humanity. Duaaain @SAfridiofficial bhai! #Respect #Legend.”
