PSL 2018: Shahid Afridi enters the record books in the tournament

Shahid Afridi has effortlessly been among Pakistan’s greatest cricketers, especially in the limited overs formats. He has been inconsistent with the willow, however, has been one of the most sought-after cricketers in domestic T20 leagues across the globe courtesy to his swashbuckling brand of cricket. He is currently playing for the Karachi Kings in the ongoing edition of the Pakistan Super League.
The Khyber Agency-born cricketer hasn’t been in stupendous touch in the tournament having scored 43 runs in seven matches. However, he has managed to entertain the audience with his power-hitting abilities. Karachi Kings played their last game against the Peshawar Zalmi at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Ground, which they lost by 44 runs.

However, Afridi played a blistering hand of 26 runs off eight balls at a staggering strike-rate of 325. He used the long handle to good effect, played the breezy cameo, entertained the viewers at the ground and most importantly kept the Kings in contention for tracing the target down. He was particularly severe on 19-year old fast-bowler Sameen Gul and smashed him for three consecutive sixes.

Apart from wielding his magic with the willow, the former Pakistan all-rounder has also shown his class with his leg-breaks. He is currently the leading wicket-taker for the franchise with 11 wickets in seven games. Karachi will be playing their last league game today against the Misbah-ul-Haq led Islamabad United in Sharjah. The franchise is currently placed in the third position with nine points from as many games and will be required to win the game in order to progress to the playoffs.
