PSL 2019: Fakhar Zaman names his favourite cricketer
"I was watching his batting at nets to learn from him."
Fakhar Zaman has succumbed a number of failures for Pakistan in all the three formats. However, with the World Cup three months away, the southpaw would be keen to get his touch back. The left-hander would now be playing for Lahore Qalandars in the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The Qalandars have finished as the cellar dwellers in all three editions.
In the meantime, the Mardan-born batsman has hailed AB de Villiers, the retired South African cricketer, as his favourite. Zaman has more reasons to cheer as he would have the privilege of playing alongside the former Proteas batsman. He also sounded delighted to share the dressing room with the dynamic ABD, who would be making his debut in the T20 extravaganza.
“AB de Villiers is also my favourite player, I was watching his batting at nets to learn from him. I will try to learn maxim in from him during the next one month. I have some questions in my mind to improve my batting, so I will surely ask him about that too. I consider myself fortunate that I’m sharing the dressing room with a legend like AB de Villiers,” Zaman was quoted as saying in Geo TV.
It is also helping our local talent
Zaman was one of the bright spots for the Qalandars in the last PSL as he was their last leading run-scorer with 277 runs from 10 matches at an average of 27.70. Fakhar was all praise for the PSL and remarked that the tournament helped him to come into the limelight and it’s also a massive platform for the local players to make a name for themselves.
“I had played before but I came into limelight through PSL. I had played before too but my good innings in PSL earned me a call from selectors for Pakistan team. It is also helping our local talent who hasn’t played much international cricket to earn contracts in different leagues,” he added.
