PSL 2019: Islamabad United pacer Rumman Raees set to make a comeback from injury
Raees has been away from the game since January last year.
Pakistan fast bowler Rumman Raees hasn’t played cricket for a year now but the player has regained his fitness and looking forward to have a productive season in the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) starting February 14. The 27-year-old was hit by twin injuries in knee and back that had kept him out of action for a considerable time.
Raees, who plays for Islamabad United, appeared for his last match in PSL 3 last year against the Quetta Gladiators in Sharjah in which he got injured while fielding. His last international game was against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui in January last year. A veteran of 80 T20s, Raees is now eager to hit the 22 yards with all zeal and pace.
Raees thanks fans in a video message
In a video message released by the United, Rumman Raees said he has attained full fitness and set his goal for the fourth edition of the popular PSL. “I had suffered a knee injury which was followed by a back surgery which kept me out of action. I have worked a lot on my fitness. I am fully fit now and will be in action during the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League,” he said.
He also thanked the fans for remembering him even after a year. Raees donned the new kit of the United, two-time and reigning champions of the PSL. “I have set my aim for PSL, want to look different in the league. I will do my best to make my team victorious,” Raees added.
The United will play the inaugural game of PSL 4 against a weighty Lahore Qalandars at the Dubai International Stadium. The tournament will though see its initial games being played in the UAE, the business end will be held in Pakistan, something that has excited the fans who have remained deprived of the opportunity to witness stars of the game performing in their country for a long time now, owing to security reasons.
