Imran Tahir, the South Africa spinner, is known for his intensified celebrations. He isn’t a spring chicken, being over 41 years old, but he isn’t short of energy by any stretch of the imagination. Whenever he takes a wicket or contributes to other bowlers’ wickets, he runs around the park in joy and jubilation. Once the veteran also revealed that he ran outside the ground while celebrating.
The leg-spinner is currently busy plying his trade in the 2020 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). In the Qualifier against Karachi Kings, he picked up the crucial wicket of Sherfane Rutherford and also gave away 22 runs in his quota of four overs. Among the ones, who bowled three or more overs, he was the most frugal with an excellent economy rate of 5.50 on a decent batting strip.

However, deviating from the normal, he pulled out a unique form of celebration. In the fourth over of the Kings’ run-chase, he took a catch at the deep square leg region to send back the dangerous Sharjeel Khan. Sohail Tanvir made the first breakthrough with the Multan Sultans defending the modest score of 41. Tahir moved a bit on to his right and took a well-judged catch in the deep.
He was on the ground while he completed the catch. But instead of putting his skates on, he stayed put on the ground and then crossed his legs. Tahir gave a pose as if he was in relaxation mode. The celebration drew a lot of attention and it didn’t take time in going viral. However, the game didn’t end well for Tahir and the Sultans, who ended up losing after the game went into the Super Over.

Rutherford, who failed in the mandatory 20 overs, came and smashed a four and six off Sohail Tanvir in the one-over eliminator, taking the Kings to the victory. Tahir is next likely to play when the Sultans lock horns with the Lahore Qalandars in the Eliminator 2 on Sunday at the National Stadium in Karachi. In the league stage, both teams won one game each against each other.
Here’s how the netizens reacted to Tahir’s catch:
