The Karachi Kings have somewhat managed to resurrect their campaign in the 2019-20 edition of the PSL. Their victories against the Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United have gotten themselves up in the points table. However, their next match against the Multan Sultans at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is expected to pose them some threat. The Sultans are the table toppers with eight points.

The Sultans, led by Shan Masood, have emerged victorious in their last three matches and must be brimming with confidence. Another triumph on Saturday will help them take one more step towards the playoffs. In their previous meeting, the Sultans picked the bones out of the Kings, beating them by 52 runs. On head-to-head, the Kings have beaten the Sultans in three out of four encounters.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch in Lahore has turned out to be an absolute belter thus far. The first three matches at the venue went in favour of the team, batting second even as in the last two games, Lahore Qalandars failed to chase targets down. A fairly high-scoring game seems to be in store. There are chances of rain throughout the day and there could be a delay in start. The temperature will be around 14 degrees Celsius.

The Kings’ batting unit isn’t overly out of form. Sharjeel Khan has threatened to get going at the top. Babar Azam had a bit of lean patch, but he got his rhythm back with a half-century last time around. Alex Hales has also managed to set the stage on fire. Imad Wasim has been excellent with the ball.

But he needs to focus a bit more on picking up wickets. Delport, Walton and Ahmed add more firepower to their batting. In bowling, Mohammad Amir and Chris Jordan will need to shoulder a chunk of the responsibility. Aamer Yamin and spinner Umer Khan will also have their roles to play.

Then there’s Moeen Ali, who is more than a handy all-rounder. Khushdil Shah and Sohail Tanvir can also wield the willow to good effect. In the bowling attack, the onus will be on Mohammad Irfan and Tanvir to deliver. Leggie Imran Tahir has been a class act and he will have to work his spin magic.
