The Lahore Qalandars got the better of Quetta Gladiators for the 2nd time in this week as they thumped the Gladiators by an 8-wicket margin on Saturday. Quetta, who batted first, were limited to just 98/9 in the 20 overs. They were reduced to 21/6 by the end of the powerplay as Samit Patel claimed a 4-wicket haul by giving away only 5 runs in four overs. Sohail Khan scored 32 off 35 balls to take his team close to the 100-run mark. The Lahore Qalandars lost a couple of early wickets but chased down the target in only 11.5 overs.

A record low total by the Gladiators:
98/9 – The total of 98/9 by Quetta Gladiators is now the lowest total in the Pakistan Super League even after facing off 20 overs. The previous lowest was 109/9 by Karachi Kings against Peshawar Zalmi in the last edition. Overall, the total of 98/9 is now the 5th lowest in PSL history.
98/9 – The 98/9 is now the 2nd lowest total in the PSL for Quetta Gladiators behind the 90/10 against Peshawar Zalmi in the 2017 edition. This is also the first sub-100 total in the PSL against the Lahore Qalandars.
Nearly the biggest-ever win for the Qalandars:
49 – Lahore Qalandars won the game with 49 deliveries to spare; the 2nd biggest win in terms of balls to spare for any team in the Pakistan Super League. The Peshawar Zalmi chased down the target of 79 in the previous edition with 59 balls to spare against the Qalandars.
Gladiators’ losing streak:
1 – Quetta Gladiators lost four successive matches in the Pakistan Super League for the first time. Their previous worst losing streak in the PSL was three consecutive defeats during the 2018 edition.
3 – Quetta lost each of their last three matches in the PSL against the Lahore Qalandars. Before this streak, the Gladiators won five of the seven matches in the league against Qalandars.
A record 4-wicket haul for Samit Patel:
4/5 – Samit Patel’s bowling figures of 4/5 are now the 2nd best bowling figures for the Lahore Qalandars in the PSL. The best PSL figures for Lahore were recorded by Shaheen Shah Afridi with his 5/4 against Multan Sultans in 2018.
5 – The five runs conceded by Samit during his four overs are the 2nd fewest runs conceded by any bowler in a Pakistan Super League match. (Min: 4 overs bowled) Mohammad Nawaz conceded only four runs (4-1-4-2) in the game against Lahore Qalandars for Gladiators during the 2018 edition.
10 – As many as 10 players including Samit Patel has claimed multiple 4-wicket hauls in the Pakistan Super League. However, Grant Elliot and Samit are the only overseas players with multiple 4-fers in the PSL.
Shaheen on the top of Lahore’s list:
25 – Shaheen Shah Afridi now has picked up 25 wickets in the PSL; the most for the Lahore Qalandars in the league. He went past Yasir Shah’s 23 wickets with the two wickets he picked in the game against the Gladiators. Shaheen also completed 50 wickets in the T20 format with his 2nd wicket of the game.
