Multan Sultans continued their unbeaten streak in the PSL 2020 as they got to their 5th win of the tournament and sealed a berth in the playoffs. The game on Sunday against Islamabad United was reduced to 9 overs-a-side and United, who batted first, raced to 50/0 in only 3.3 overs. However, they failed to continue that pace and were restricted to 91/7. James Vince got the Multan team cruise in the chase by scoring an unbeaten 61 from 24 balls with 11 fours and a maximum. Sultans got through the chase losing only one wicket and 14 balls to spare.

A big defeat for Islamabad:
9 – The 9-wicket defeat for Islamabad United in this game is now their biggest loss in terms of wickets in the Pakistan Super League. Their previous biggest PSL defeat was the 8-wicket loss against the Quetta Gladiators in 2016 as they chased down the target of 129 in only 16 overs.
9 – Only the 2nd time Multan Sultans won a PSL game with as many as nine wickets in hand. They defeated the Quetta Gladiators by 9 wickets during the 2018 season match while chasing a target of 103.
Sultans settle scores with United:
3-3 – The head to head record in the PSL between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United is now tied on 3-3. The United team won both the encounters in the 2018 season while the Sultans were victorious twice in the 2019 edition. Earlier in the ongoing season, the United sealed a 6-wicket win over the Multan Sultans team.
A quick-fire fifty from Vince:
20 – James Vince’s 20-ball fifty in this match is now the joint 4th fastest fifty in the PSL and the quickest for the Multan Sultans. This is also the 2nd fastest fifty by an overseas player during the PSL. Luke Ronchi scored a 19-ball fifty in 2018 against Karachi Kings for the Islamabad United.
254.17 – Vince had a batting strike rate of 254.17 during his unbeaten 24-ball 61. This is the 3rd highest batting SR during a PSL inning of 20+ deliveries. Kamran Akmal smashed a 27-ball 77 at an SR of 285.18 in the 2018 season against Karachi for the Peshawar team.
Asif Ali’s unbeaten 21-ball 55 stands second in the list as Asif had a strike rate of 261.9 during that innings he played against Lahore Qalandars in 2019 for Islamabad.
Ronchi @ 50 sixes:
50 – Luke Ronchi completed 50 sixes in the Pakistan Super League with the one six he hit against Multan. Shane Watson (77), Kamran Akmal (76) and Asif Ali (50) are the other players with 50 PSL sixes.
233 – Runs Luke Ronchi has scored in the PSL against the Multan Sultans; the most number of runs by any player against Multan in the PSL. Ronchi went past Shane Watson’s tally of 219 runs that came across five matches against the Sultans. Ronchi faced the Multan franchise on six instances in the PSL where he aggregated 233 runs with help of three fifties.
