Lahore Qalandars’ winning streak was ended by the Karachi Kings who chased down the target of 151 without losing a wicket against them on Thursday. The Karachi team were desperate of a win as they now move on to No.2 in the points table. Sohail Akhtar scored a 49-ball 68 but that could only take the Qalandars to 150/5. The Karachi team achieved the target without losing a wicket in only 17.1 overs. Sharjeel scored 74 from 59 balls while Babar Azam smashed nine boundaries on this way through to a 46-ball 69.

All the statistical highlights from Karachi Kings’ 10-wicket win against the Lahore Qalandars:

A record win for Karachi:

2 – Karachi Kings recorded only the 2nd instance of a team winning a Pakistan Super League game by 10 wickets margin. The other such win was registered by Peshawar Zalmi also against Lahore Qalandars in 2018 while chasing 101. Prior to this win, Karachi never won a PSL game by more than 7 wickets.


151 – The 151-run chase by Karachi Kings is now the 2nd highest successful chase without losing a wicket in T20 cricket on Pakistan soil. The highest T20 chase without losing a wicket in Pakistan is 165 by Quetta Bears against Larkana Bulls in the 2014 Domestic T20 tournament.


Yet another win for Karachi over Lahore:

6 – Karachi Kings has defeated Lahore Qalandars six times across 10 meetings in the PSL thus far. The Karachi team won six of those ten matches; the most number of times Karachi has defeated any team in the PSL.


A big partnership for Karachi:

151* – The unbeaten 151-run partnership between Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan is only the 4th 150+ stand in the PSL. Babar shared a 157-run opening stand with Liam Livingstone for Karachi against Multan last year which is still the highest-ever partnership in the PSL. Sharjeel put on 153 for the first wicket with Shane Watson in the 2016 edition while playing for the Islamabad also against Qalandars. The 155-run partnership between Ben Dunk and Samit Patel last week is the other 150+ stand in PSL.

The 151* stand is also the highest in the PSL involving two Pakistan players. The previous highest such partnership was 137 by Kamran Akmal and Imam-ul-Haq pair for the first wicket for the Peshawar Zalmi against Karachi last year.


Babar levels with Kamran:

12 – Babar Azam now has scored 12 fifties in the Pakistan Super League; the joint-most 50+ scores by any player in this league. Kamran Akmal also put up 12 scores of 50+ in the PSL including three hundreds.


265 – Babar has aggregated 265 runs in the PSL against Lahore Qalandars with help of two fifties at an average of 37.85. His tally of runs against Lahore is only behind Kamran Akmal’s 272 runs.


Sharjeel’s six-hitting spree:

5 – Sharjeel Khan’s 5 sixes in this match are the most by a Pakistan player for the Karachi Kings in the PSL. As many as six instances of 5 or more sixes in a PSL inning were recorded by overseas players for Karachi before Sharjeel.
