The defending champions Quetta Gladiators earned their 3rd win of the tournament with a 5-wicket victory over Islamabad United in a thriller. The Islamabad team took an aggressive route despite losing early wickets. Colin Ingram smashed an unbeaten 40-ball 63 with 8 boundaries as United finished on 187/7.

Jason Roy scored 50 off 38 balls but the remaining top order failed to make an impact. Skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed (33) was dismissed when Quetta needed 55 from last 5 overs. However, Ben Cutting ensured the Gladiators chased down the target of 188 with an unbeaten 42 from only 17 balls.

Quetta’s winning streak against Islamabad:

4 – This is Quetta Gladiators’ 4th consecutive win in the PSL against Islamabad United. The Gladiators won both the matches in the 2019 edition against them and twice already in the ongoing tournament.


A record chase against Islamabad:

188 – Quetta Gladiators’ 188-run chase is now the highest successful chase in the PSL for any team against Islamabad United. The previous highest PSL chase against United was 177 by Peshawar Zalmi in the 2019 edition. The Gladiators have two bigger successful chases in PSL – 202 and 201 respectively in 2016 and 2017 editions; both against Lahore Qalandars in Sharjah.


Ben Cutting finishes off in style for Gladiators:

42* – The unbeaten 42-run knock by Ben Cutting is now the highest score by a No.7 or a lower position batsman in a PSL innings for Quetta Gladiators. Grant Elliot scored 40 off 29 balls against Peshawar Zalmi in the 2016 edition also while batting at No.7. Only ten players scored 42 or more runs in a PSL innings before Cutting while batting at No.7 or a lower position.


247.05 – Ben Cutting’s batting strike rate of 247.05 during his 17-ball 42* is now the highest for Quetta Gladiators in a PSL inning (Min: 40 runs/15 balls). The previous highest for Gladiators was a strike rate of 209.52 by Kevin Pietersen during his unbeaten 88 off 42 against Lahore Qalandars in 2017. Overall, only three players have had higher batting SR than Cutting during a PSL knock of 15+ balls.


10-1 – Win-loss record of the teams in the T20 Leagues when Ben Cutting was unbeaten in a run-chase. Only time Cutting was unbeaten in an unsuccessful chase in a major T20 league match was against RCB in the 2018 IPL while playing for MI.


Ingram’s success against Gladiators:

266 – Colin Ingram has aggregated 266 runs across six PSL innings against the Quetta Gladiators. The left-hander has a century and a fifty in those sixes innings against Quetta. Ingram has an average of 66.5 and a strike rate of 187.32 over the Gladiators.


Sixes galore for United:

7 – As many as seven batters smashed at least one six for the Islamabad United in this match. This is the first instance of seven players hitting a six during an innings in the Pakistan Super League.


A record stand for Gladiators:

57* – The unbeaten partnership of 57 between Mohammad Nawaz and Ben Cutting is now the Quetta Gladiators’ highest stand for the 6th wicket. The previous highest was 54 between Nawaz and Sarfaraz Ahmed in 2019 against Lahore Qalandars.
