Earlier in March, the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was suspended for an indefinite time as there was a potential breach in the bio bubble and a number of players and support staff returned positive results for Covid-19. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to host the remaining matches of the T20 Championship in June in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

While there is uncertainty looming over the Pakistan Super League, the authorities have made slight changes in the squad ruled for all the franchises. Considering the challenges posed by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the franchises have been allowed to have as many as 20 players in their squad.

The teams were given an option to pick two more players in their respective squads. Among the two players, one pick was allowed to be foreign player. Earlier all the franchisees were expected to carry only 18 players in their squad. The squad combination allowed was 3 Platinum Players, 3 Diamond Players, 3 Gold Players, 5 Silver Players, 2 Emerging Players, 2 Supplementary players.

The Roaster for all the teams was 6 Foreign Players and 12 Local Players, which was changed to seven foreign players and 13 local players. The renowned journalist Saj Sadiq gave the information regarding the same on his official Twitter handle.

“All PSL teams now have the option to pick two additional players and take their squad up to 20 players for the remaining matches. Teams can pick one additional foreign player in these two picks #PSL6 #cricket,” Saj Sadiq tweeted.

All the picks from 22nd May are as follows –

Multan Sultans: Shimron Hetymer, Johnson Charles, Hammad Azam, Wasim Mohammad

Karachi Kings: Mohammad Haris

Quetta Gladiators: Zahir Khan, Jack Wildermuth, Khurram Shehzad

Lahore Qalandars: Tim David, Sultan Ahmed

Peshawar Zalmi: Bismillah Khan

Islamabad United: Mohammad Akhlaq

PSL 2021 to get rescheduled

PSL 2021 was scheduled to get underway from June 2. However, since the tournament will be shifted to Abu Dhabi, there are high chances that a revised schedule will be released. PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan recently confirmed that they have received permission from UAE to host PSL 2021 and PCB will look at all the factors involved before arriving at a decision.

“We are delighted with this development as the remaining hurdles in the staging of the remaining PSL 6 matches in Abu Dhabi have been overcome and all systems are now good to go. The PCB, in consultation with the team owners, will now work at pace to finalize all event-related arrangements, details of which will be shared in due course,” Wasim Khan said.
