PSL 2022: Haris Rauf slaps Lahore Qalandars teammate Kamran Ghulam for dropping a catch
Lahore Qalandars faced Peshawar Zalmi in the final league game of PSL 2022
The ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 has been in the news for off the field controversies along with some brilliant on-field action as well. Overseas players including Alex Hales and Paul Stirling withdrawing due to personal reasons, Australian all-rounder James Faulkner leaving midway due to contractual and financial obligations along with damaging the hotel property and misbehaving with the staff as well as immigration officials have been a few of them.
However, a controversial and possibly friendly incident on the cricket field became the talk of the town on Monday (February 21). Pacer Haris Rauf hilariously and shockingly ended up slapping his teammate Kamran Ghulam after picking up a wicket during the match.
PSL 2022: Haris Rauf vents out his frustration on Lahore teammate
It so happened that Kamran Ghulam had dropped Peshawar Zalmi’s Hazratullah Zazai when he attempted to work Haris Rauf’s full delivery away on the leg side. However, on the penultimate delivery of the very same over, Fawad Ahmed took a good catch to send Mohammad Haris back cheaply. While the celebrations were in progress, Ghulam went towards Rauf for a hi-five and that is when the latter slapped him in frustration.
Even though Kamran was seen smiling, the bowler was seen giving a serious look at him on a couple of occasions. Nonetheless, things did not end there as the slap seemed to have charged up Ghulam who effected a brilliant run out to get rid of Peshawar skipper Wahab Riaz in the 17th over. Haris Rauf then came and hugged the fielder this time around.
It remains to be seen whether Haris Rauf would be facing any consequences for his on-field action. In PSL 2016, Wahab Riaz had pushed and nearly beaten up Ahmed Shehzad when he had provoked the left-arm pacer by showing his bat while walking back to the dugout after being dismissed. A timely intervention cooled things down before they went overboard. Shehzad was fined 30 percent of his match fee while Riaz lost 40 percent of his game earnings.
